ROADS – Soon the end of the May bridges. While this Pentecost weekend is the last extended one before the summer holidays, the French are taking the opportunity to go and recharge their batteries for a while. Enough to anticipate significant traffic on the road. Bison Futé classifies traffic red in the direction of departures for this Friday, May 17 and orange in the direction of returns for this Monday, May 20. HuffPost takes stock of the situation with you.

The worst is expected for this Friday, May 17, where traffic is classified red at the national level in the direction of departures. “ Traffic should, in particular, be very busy on the A7, along the Mediterranean Arc and on the Atlantic coast (A11, N165 and A63) », predicts the national road center. But traffic will also be very dense in Île-de-France from late morning, particularly on the A6 and A10 motorways.

Furthermore, the A13 motorway should still be closed to traffic between Paris and Vaucresson, which could influence traffic. Bison Futé therefore advises Ile-de-France motorists wishing to reach Normandy to take the A14, the A15 or the N12.

Outside the Île de France, Bison Futé also advises, as far as possible, to avoid this Friday afternoon, the A31, between Nancy and Luxembourg, the A25 between Lille and Socx, the A63, between Bordeaux and Bayonne and the A7, between Lyon and Marseille.

Concerning returns for this Friday, Bison Futé also anticipates fairly heavy traffic, classifying the territory orange. The national road center advises you to avoid, in the afternoon, the A2 motorways, between Belgium and Combles and the A7, between Marseille and Orange.

An Orange Saturday

Concerning the day of Saturday May 18, traffic will also be difficult at the national level, classified orange, “ in particular on the axes serving the Mediterranean arc (A7 and A9) and on the Atlantic coast (A63 and N165) “. Difficulties are also expected in Île-de-France in the morning.

Bison Futé advises you to “ leave or cross Île-de-France after 8 hours “, but also to avoid at the beginning of the afternoon, the A13 motorways, between Orgeval and Rouen, A63, between Bordeaux and Bayonne and A7, between Lyon and Orange. Concerning returns for this Saturday and traffic for Sunday May 19, Bison Futé is forecasting, for the moment, normal traffic.

However, traffic jams are expected again for Monday May 20, this time in the direction of returns, where traffic is classified orange throughout the country. Bison Futé anticipates particularly heavy traffic on the A7, A9 and A63 motorways. It is also advisable to leave the A13 motorways, between Caen and Paris, A63, between Bayonne and Bordeaux, A7, between Marseille and Orange and A9 between Spain and Narbonne, at the end of the afternoon. If possible, also avoid the Mont-Blanc tunnel between Italy and France.
