Jonas Hofmann breathes a sigh of relief: The national player is out for the time being, but can probably take part in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar!
During the DFB Cup loss in Darmstadt (1:2), Hofmann injured his shoulder after an unfortunate landing and had to be substituted with a pained face. Around five weeks before the World Cup, the alarm bells went off, because any long-term injury would mean the end of the World Cup.
Fortunately, the worst fears that people had on Tuesday evening on the Lower Rhine were not confirmed: Borussia Mönchengladbach announced on Wednesday that they had suffered a shoulder joint rupture – but without bony involvement!
According to the club, Hofmann will be out “until further notice”, but his participation in the World Cup is not in danger, as Borussia explicitly emphasized.
