Jim Carrey hints at the end of his career in an interview. “I’m retiring. I’m relatively serious,” said the US comedian.

Jim Carrey (60) indicates the end of his acting career. “I’m retiring. I’m pretty serious about it,” the comedian explained according to media reports in a TV interview with “Access Hollywood”.

Carrey is currently promoting his new film “Sonic the Hedgehog 2”, which opens in German cinemas on March 31st. The actor has lived a secluded life for many years and devotes himself to painting, among other things. “I like my quiet life,” Carrey continued in the interview. “And I like bringing color to the canvas. And I like my spiritual life”. He’s had enough now. “I’ve done enough. I’m enough for myself.”

Exception for Dolly Parton?

However, Carrey does not want to completely rule out a comeback. “Maybe I’ll continue at some point, but I’ll take a break,” he clarified. However, a return depends on certain circumstances. “If Engel would bring me a script that was written in gold ink and that said people absolutely had to see the film, then maybe,” joked the Canadian.

Carrey’s interviewee Kit Hoover (51) brought up another possible exception. She mentioned that country singer Dolly Parton (76) brought Carrey in to play her musical partner Porter Wagoner (1927-2007) should her life be made into a film.

For her, Carrey would make an exception. “I would always talk to Dolly. To me, Dolly embodies another world that is bigger than you can imagine,” he replied.

“Disgusted” by colleagues in Hollywood

Carrey’s threat of withdrawal comes a few days after his much-cited interview about Will Smith (53) and his slap on Chris Rock (57) at the Oscars. Opposite “CBS Mornings” Carrey said he was “disgusted” by the moment. And from the standing ovation that Smith later received from his colleagues in the audience.
