James Bond: Illustrated book “Being Bond” looks back on the Daniel Craig era

Who is the best James Bond actor? Film fans have been arguing about this question for ages: for some, Sean Connery remains unrivaled as the first and style-defining agent with the license to kill. Others swear by Roger Moore, whose irony helped ensure that the series didn’t take itself too seriously. Daniel Craig has a special role among the six previous 007 actors: his era is the only one that can be interpreted as a complete work. From the beginning with “Casino Royale” (2006) to the apocalyptic finale “No Time to Die” (2021), the Bond films follow a clear plan, telling a development story that deconstructs the womanizer of yesteryear, turning him into a monogamous father might. Death at the end of the last Bond film of the Craig years is the inevitable conclusion of the development.

In the opulent illustrated book “Being Bond: Daniel Craig – A Review”, the British film journalist Mark Salisbury reviews the filming of the five films. Readers can look behind the scenes of “Casino Royale,” “Quantum of Solace,” “Skyfall,” “Spectre” and “No Time to Die” and understand how they were made.
