Jacinda Ardern: The visionary is worth nothing in her own country – opinion

Jacinda Ardern will go down in history as a politician greater than the country she ruled. New Zealand is relevant to Europe and the USA to a certain extent because of its colonial history and the structure of the population – but from a global perspective it is not significant with its almost five million inhabitants. New Zealand cannot initiate any global changes, neither in climate policy nor in the conflict between China and the USA. The G5, the G7, the G20 can do that, but in the concert of the big ones, the Pacific state will always play the role that it also represents on maps: an inconspicuous one on the edge.
