French Olympic boxing leaves Tokyo without the slightest Olympic medal. Expected in + 91kg, Mourad Aliev lost his fight against Frazer Clarke in the quarter-finals, disqualified after the referee decided to stop the fight, the Briton bleeding from both eyebrow arches. “It’s unfair, everyone saw that I won”, protested Aliev, still in the ring, when the referee had just informed him of his disqualification for a head butt to his opponent the Briton Frazer Clarke.
Incredulous and angry, Aliev, who seemed to dominate the fight after a given first round winning 3 judges to 2, then circled in the ring, going to see his opponent to say “I won”.

During the fight, Clarke had to receive treatment twice for the left browbone. [pour la première, cela fait clairement suite à un coup de poing porté par Aliev], and it was after the second treatment that the referee, bringing together the boxers, announced his decision. After the officialization of the result by the announcer, the Frenchman then made the sign “no” with his fingers in front of the cameras.
The Frenchman then remained in the ring for 45 minutes, no doubt hoping that the officials would reconsider their decision. The latter will end up admitting their error, as Aliev will explain it at the microphone of France TV, without consequence on the fate of the tricolor boxer. “It’s openly a theft, I am really disappointed”. Everyone will have their own opinion, but it would not be a first for Olympic boxing.
