Italy: Why another trial for Amanda Knox begins – Panorama

More than 15 years after the murder of a British exchange student in Perugia, a new trial is underway for the American who was initially considered the perpetrator. She has long since been acquitted – but that’s not enough for her.

Amanda Marie Knox is 36 years old and has experienced enough to last a lifetime. It began with the horrific murder of her roommate in Perugia, Italy, on November 1, 2007, when the young American from Seattle was just 20 years old. Being accused of being a murderer, standing trial in a foreign country and being sentenced to 26 years in prison in 2009 is traumatic enough – but that was just the beginning. In 2011, Knox got the conviction overturned, so after four years she was released and returned to the United States. A new trial followed, in absentia, with a new guilty verdict before Italy’s highest court finally acquitted her in 2015. You would think that Amanda Knox wouldn’t want to know anything more about the whole story.
