Nature is not doing well in Europe. 80 percent of habitats are considered degraded. Arable deserts, forests and plantations characterize the landscape in large parts, more than half of the moors have been drained and even the protected areas cannot be relied on: According to one, around 69 percent of all FFH areas are Report on the state of nature by the Federal Ministry for the Environment in Germany alone in an “unfavorable” or “poor” condition. As a result, biodiversity is shrinking massively. Example field birds: 57 percent of the stocks have disappeared in Europe in the past 40 years.
