Seemingly indiscriminately they grab their hair, laboriously dig the blades through the strands, then hold the tuft in their hands. Some do it crying, some angry. A number of Iranian women have cut their hair in protest at the death of Mahsa Jina Amini, who was arrested by the Iranian vice squad because her hijab was too loose. 50 French actresses recorded themselves doing the same, Juliette Binoche, Marion Cotillard, Charlotte Gainsbourg. Hair also fell at demonstrations in Germany, a graffito in front of the Iranian embassy in Milan shows Marge Simpson with a sawn-off blue tower of hair, and in the EU Parliament, Swedish MP Abir Al-Sahlani used kitchen scissors at the lectern. They all show solidarity with the protesters in Iran.
