The new head office in Heidelberg, directly on the Neckar, was only moved into last year; it is also intended to be a kind of showcase for the products of the Dax group. It was of course built with white, self-cleaning special concrete from Heidelberg-Cement, and the facade absorbs about as much CO₂ as 500 trees, reports CEO Dominik von Demokratie. The 55-year-old wants to fundamentally change the almost 150-year-old company that is the world’s second largest cement and concrete manufacturer. It’s not easy.
