Insect protection for windows: How to protect your rooms from flying pests

Whether fruit flies or mosquitoes, wasps or moths: insects are booming in the warm summer months. In search of food, the pests are drawn into millions of households – unless you equip your windows with suitable fly screens. You can find out which models are available here.
Fly screens have the advantage that they can be easily attached to (and removed from) windows without drilling. The fine-meshed nets are impenetrable for insects, but the air can still circulate. There are models for cutting, clamping frames or roller blind systems that are attached using self-adhesive Velcro or magnetic strips. However, before you order an individual insect screen for your windows or doors, you should think carefully about which model you really need. If you are still looking for a suitable insect screen for your windows, you can choose between the following models:
fly screen: The cheapest option are classic fly screens for windows. They are easily attached to the frame with self-adhesive Velcro strips and can be removed without leaving any residue (an important factor for rented apartments). The insect screen is available in different sizes – but you can also cut the models individually. The colors vary between White and Black, the latter being less conspicuous.
Insect protection with zipper: Particularly practicalis also this fly screen that is special for skylights was developed. It has a zip so you can easily reach through the insect screen to open or close the window. The UV-resistant fabric is available in white and black, can be cut individually and is washable at 30 degrees.
Mmagnetic fly screen: As the name suggests, this one is Insect screen for windows magnetic. This is made possible by weather-resistant and tear-resistant fiberglass. The self-adhesive magnetic strips can be easily attached and removed again. But what is even more practical: This variant is also available for doorsso that the screens close again after you have passed through.
clamping frame: In this variant, the insect screen is already stretched into a fixed frame, which is attached to the window using a special fastening system (hanging springs) – also without drilling. In contrast to the classic fly screen, the clamping frame a significantly higher stability, durability and weather resistance. Most models can even be shortened individually if the dimensions do not fit.

Insect screens for windows: tips for measuring
The fly screen should fit exactly into the window frame: if it protrudes slightly, you can simply shorten the material with scissors. However, if it is too short, it no longer fits on the Velcro or adhesive strips provided. Before you order the insect screen for your window, it is crucial – in the truest sense of the word – to measure the frame to the millimeter. It is best to use a folding rule or a tape measure for this.
