Ingolstadt: police shoot mentally disturbed man – Bavaria

A 35-year-old was fatally injured during a police operation in Ingolstadt on Monday – after the officers used a firearm. This was announced by the police in the evening. At around 10:15 a.m., the operations center was informed that a person in the east of the city was said to be in an exceptional mental situation. Police officers from Ingolstadt then found a man south of the refinery.

During negotiations lasting several hours, also with the involvement of the police negotiation group and other special forces, an attempt was made to “supply him with medical treatment,” it said. On Monday afternoon there was a sudden attack by the man – and firearms were used. The 35-year-old succumbed to his injuries in hospital a short time later.

The Bavarian State Criminal Police Office is leading the further investigations to clarify the course of events and the circumstances of the shooting by the police, under the direction of the Ingolstadt public prosecutor.
