How much do we donate and from what age?

Parents see it as an opportunity to educate their children about money, accounts and responsibility. Children see it more as a way to have fun. But when do we give children pocket money? How much do we give? And how do children spend this money?

We met Maya Atig, general director of the French Banking Federation. For six years, she has observed the curve of children’s wallets. If inflation has not really changed the amounts received by our little ones, it has, on the other hand, changed their spending behavior.

According to its study, less than one in two children, aged 8 to 14, receives pocket money. This money is most often given in cash (89%). And for the first time in five years, children spent more than saved (52% versus 45%).

The interview with Maya Atig can be seen in the video at the top of this article.
