How Formula 1 Stewards Make Decisions

There are still four race marshals, with a president, a member of the GP’s ASN (National Sports Association) and a representative of the pilots. Every winter, all the marshals, who work in all levels of motorsport, whether in rally, circuit or rally-raid, must attend a weekend seminar during which all the rules and the ways of applying them are revised. During these very specific conferences, equally complicated practical cases are discussed. As for all FIA Championships, the list of marshals is established before the start of the season. At the launch of the Championship, it had therefore been established that Garry Connelly would lead the college for these last two races. All this in order to avoid any suspicion of collusion, as in the mid-2000s when Connelly was the only one to serve as president and accused of always favoring Hamilton.
