Horror trip in pink and neon green: premiere of “The Possibility of Evil” – Munich

A huge pink rose grows out of a bright green house. In the midst of its blossoming, an eye that watches carefully over everything that happens around it. The director Marie Schleef is staging “The Possibility of Evil” by Shirley Jackson in the Therese Giehse Hall of the Kammerspiele – and this opening image is something like the essence of this short story. Like the Eye of God or Big Brother in George Orwell’s “1984,” here it is the Eye of the Rose that monitors everyone who lives in this city.
