Leisure time in the Alps:Holidays: Mountain rescuers in continuous action

By Claudia Koestler, Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

The first week of the summer holidays is over, and the balance of the mountain rescuers of the mountain rescue services shows a high level of commitment. Because several people had to be rescued from alpine emergencies in the Isarwinkel. The rescuers received an emergency call from the climbing forest on Blomberg on Monday. A guest is on the verge of collapsing on a platform, according to the report. Before the mountain rescue team moved out, however, the staff was able to help the person. On Tuesday, a woman in the Schronbachalm area suffered an acute attack of dizziness. The Lenggries mountain rescue team and the emergency doctor brought the cyclist safely down to the valley, where she was taken to the clinic. On Wednesday evening, a paraglider crashed in the Leiterberg area and got stuck 15 meters high in a tree. The localization turned out to be difficult because the pilot could not send any GPS coordinates from his position. However, other paraglider pilots were able to see the scene of the accident from the air and informed the operations manager of the mountain rescue service of the position. A ground team with three mountain rescuers immediately set off and freed the pilot. At the same time, a hiker got lost on the descent to the Gasthof zur Post and slipped several meters down the steep terrain. Although he was unharmed, he could not move from the spot. The man was finally fetched by rescue helicopter and winch, also because of the onset of darkness. On Thursday, the Lenggries mountain rescue service was called to an injured boy in the Jachenau camp. He had fallen, seriously injured his shoulder and was taken to the hospital by helicopter. On Friday, the Bad Tölz mountain rescue service took care of two girls in the middle station on Blomberg, who, according to the rescuers, were clearly overwhelmed and suffered a panic attack. The helpers also recovered an abandoned paraglider that day, which has now been handed over to the pilot intact.
