Heating amendment: Habeck and Geywitz wanted a fresh start

Robert Habeck and Klara Geywitz wanted to prove with the heating amendment that this coalition is still capable of acting. But since they had planned without the FDP boss.

Actually, today should be the big new beginning. In March, someone from the closest government circle gave the plans to replace the heating system to the “Bild” newspaper, at least that’s what Economics Minister Robert Habeck publicly rumoured. It stumbled him, simply unprepared to defend the law. Neither against understandable concerns about detailed questions nor against a campaign that presented it as if Habeck would soon personally tear the gas heaters out of the Germans’ basements. So the criticism grew, the coalition partners agreed and in the end the law ended up in the big package of the eternal coalition committee before Easter.
