Things get serious tonight, the first International match under new national coach Julian Nagelsmann (36) takes on the USA in Hartford/Connecticut (9 p.m. German time, live RTL).
One person who is particularly important for the new national coach: his new assistant Sandro Wagner (35)!
Nagelsmann raves: “He does it sensationally well. He is an incredibly hard-working, structured, funny man. He actually takes care of everything for me when it comes to these organizational issues during training. I used to work with two assistant coaches on the pitch, now only with one, there are already a lot of organizational Topics. He also has a very good tactical idea, a very good approach to the players. He finds a good middle ground. He doesn’t make a fuss about the players either, he has played with some of them. He has a healthy authority, but also a certain approachability.”

But: The Nagelsmann/Wagner team probably won’t exist forever, as Nagelsmann reveals: “It’s actually a shame that he wants to become head coach again at some point in the future, otherwise I could sign him permanently. He does all the tasks almost identically to me. “
Before his DFB commitment, Wagner was already the head coach at Unterhaching and rose sensationally to the 3rd league with the Munich suburb club. But after that it was clear that he would stop for now; the original plan was for him to get his football teaching license from 2024 after getting his A license.
But now the most important thing: that super assistant coach Wagner helps us become European champions in 2024…
