The district administration of Western Pomerania-Rügen has apparently fallen victim to a cyber attack and cannot currently be reached.
The Vorpommern-Rügen district is apparently affected by a hacker attack. All computer systems have been disconnected from the network, according to a message on the district’s website. The district administration can initially only be reached by telephone. A spokeswoman for the district said the problem would be worked on overnight. The cause of the IT problems is not yet known. As a precautionary measure, the police and state authorities were informed. The district administration can no longer be reached via email. Programs and services also no longer worked, so no requests could be processed. The Vorpommern-Rügen district wants to publish new information on its website. It can still be updated, said the spokeswoman.
Also cyber attack on Rostock companies
The Rostock company Inros Lackner has apparently also been attacked by hackers. The project planning office announced this on its website on Tuesday. Telephones and the computer file system are particularly affected. These no longer worked correctly due to the cyber attack. Inros Lackner says it is planning construction projects in the areas of ports, infrastructure and energy. The company has 700 employees worldwide.
Hackers attacked state police
It was only at the beginning of November that websites of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state police were the target of hacker attacks. The online watch and the MV service portal were affected. In the meantime, they were only accessible to a limited extent. Last year, the Schwerin city administration fell victim to an extensive cyber attack.
