German women’s team sixth in the European Championship – Italy wins

The young German women’s team impresses at the European Gymnastics Championships. At the end of the title fights, the Perspektiv team presented itself as a strong team.
The German gymnasts won at the European Championships in Italy Rimini took a strong sixth place in the team competition.
At the end of the title fights on Sunday, the young team of national coach Gerben Wiersma won 152.930 points in the team all-around competition. This means that the team, which is on average just 16 years old and includes Karina Schönmaier (Chemnitz), Helen Kevric, Marlene Gotthardt (both Stuttgart), Silja Stöhr (Heddesheim) and Janoah Müller (Haßloch), improved by one place compared to the qualification.
Fourth title for Esposito
The favored host Italy became the European team champion with 164.162 points ahead of Great Britain (162.162) and France (158.796). The most successful participant was the Italian Manila Esposito, who won her fourth title with the team after winning gold in the all-around, balance beam and floor.
The day before, Helen Kevric had narrowly missed out on a medal. The 16-year-old European Championship debutant came fourth on the uneven bars with 13.866 points. She was only 0.034 points behind Briton Georgia-Mae Fenton in third place. The Italian Alice D’Amato became European champion with 14,600 points.
Karina Schönmaier and Marlene Gotthardt also impressed in the diving final. The 18-year-old Schönmaier received an average score of 13.466 points for her two jumps and thus took fifth place. Gotthardt, still 15 years old, scored 13.166 points and came seventh. Coline Devillard from France won the title with 13,866 points.
