Guide Michelin 2024: These are Munich’s star restaurants – Munich

26 stars in total for Munich, plus another 71 for the rest of Bavaria: the gourmet restaurants in the Free State are once again doing well in the new Michelin Guide for Germany. Especially in Munich. These are this year’s star kitchens.

It remains at three: Restaurant Jan

Jan Hartwig only opened his own restaurant in 2022 – now he has once again received a top rating in the Michelin Guide.

Jan Hartwig41, has his own new restaurant Jan, which only opened in October 2022, defends its three stars again. In doing so, he confirmed last year’s sensational success – the Michelin Guide very rarely awards three stars to a new restaurant. Hartwig had already achieved three stars every year between 2017 and 2021 in the Bayerischer Hof studio.

Two stars straight away: Restaurant Komu

Christoph Kunz, 38, already had two stars during his time as head chef in the Alois restaurant at the Dallmayr delicatessen. Then he quit in 2022 to become self-employed. Last summer the time had come: his own restaurant Komu at Hackenstrasse 4 celebrated its opening and soon received very good reviews. It immediately received two stars in the Michelin again.

Two stars defended: Restaurant Alois

Last year, Max Natmessnig, as Kunz’s successor, won two stars for the gourmet restaurant at the first attempt Alois in the Dallmayr, then he disappeared to New York in the fall. His successor, the Munich native Rosina Ostler, 31, now repeated his feat and also received two stars straight away. This gives us a lot to expect for the future.

The gourmet restaurant in Munich has been decorated with two stars for the longest time dining room in the BMW World with his head chef Bobby Brauer, 62. Since 2015, Michelin has awarded its clear product cuisine two stars. Bräuer is something of a rock of stability in the recently turbulent Munich gastronomic scene.

Followed in big footsteps Benjamin Chmura35, in Tantric after its general renovation as the successor to Hans Haas, who had worked there for 23 years. But Chmura managed to get two stars straight away, which he has now received for the third time. But he is also the only Munich chef to receive stars for two restaurants at the same time. Because after his colleague Virginie Protat left as head chef in the sister restaurant Tantric DNA He is now responsible as head chef there too – and has defended his one star there too.

Two stars: Tohru in writing

Cooks consistently at a two-star level too Tohru Nakamura, 39, since 2017, when he received this award for the first time in Geisels Werneckhof. He now has his own gourmet restaurant Tohru in the writing room at the stove and implements his sophisticated Japanese-French crossover concept there.

Two stars: Studio of the Bayerischer Hof

The native of Freising Anton Gschwendtner39, was there before Jan Hartwig Studio of the Bavarian Court. He then became head chef himself, first at the Sofitel Bayerpost, then in hotel restaurants in Vienna and Stuttgart, which he helped win star honors. Since he returned to Munich, he has consistently received two stars as head chef for the hotel’s gourmet restaurant on Promenadeplatz.

Munich’s one-star restaurants

Because of the sudden abundance of excellent restaurants in Munich, the Michelin testers have probably become more reserved. Even with the one-star stars, everything remains the same as in 2023. You don’t want to give the impression that stars are being distributed with a watering can. Eleven restaurants were awarded one star. In addition to the Tantris DNA, the Brothers, the Acquarello, the Gabelspiel, the Les Deux, the Mountain Hub Gourmet at the airport, the Showroom by Dominik Käppeler, the Sparkling Bistro, the Mural and the Mural Farmhouse Fine Dining as well as the Werneckhof Sigi Schelling.

Again without a star: Restaurant Schwarzreiter

But there are not only happy winners, but also unfortunate losers. This is how it was thought of Restaurant Schwarzreiter The Hotel Four Seasons once again didn’t give a star, even though its chef did Franz Josef Unterlechner38, has been cooking at star level for many years and has been leading the Schwarzreiter team for a good year.
