Google invests $300 million in AI company previously funded by Sam Bankman-Fried

Google Cloud is reportedly investing $300 million in artificial intelligence (AI) startup Anthropic, which received over $500 million from former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried about six months before FTX’s collapse.

The Financial Times reported a figure of $300 million on Feb. 4, but Anthropic has come out.confirmGoogle Cloud Same Day Investment Partnership But the numbers were not disclosed.

Anthropic also confirmed that they had previously raised funds from Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison, former CEO of Alameda Research, among others in Series B funding:

“The Series B round was led by FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, as well as Caroline Ellison, Jim McClave, Nishad Singh, Jaan Tallinn and the Center for Emerging Risk Research (CERR).

As The New York Times reported, of the $580 million raised, about $530 million came from: Bankman-Fried and his former business partner.

One FTX Creditorbelieve shareholding proportion of Bankman-Fried in AI company could reach $1.1 billion However, the creditor did not elaborate on the figure.

Google Cloud, meanwhile, has acquired about 10 percent of Anthropic, according to the Financial Times.
