Good communication in medicine: “Compassion can save lives” – Munich

Physician Mark Weinert believes that more communication between doctors and patients could greatly improve the healthcare system. He himself once received a terrible diagnosis – in exactly 16 seconds.

The clock in the church tower of St. Peter strikes one. Mark Weinert is standing at the maypole on the Viktualienmarkt. Punctual to the minute. His backpack and bicycle helmet are lying on the floor, and he’s holding a book and a yellow highlighter. Probably someone who uses the moment, who wants to constantly feed his spirit, you think. A little carpe diem. A little zen. Because when you greet him, he calmly raises his head and looks very intensely, almost scrutinizingly, into the eyes of his counterpart.
