Germany’s largest telescope is on the Wendelstein – Bavaria

Arno Riffeser’s workplace is unique. Not only because it is located on the summit of the Wendelstein at an altitude of 1,838 meters. The way there leads from the mountain station through a narrow tunnel. At its end there is an elevator shaft that leads the last 110 meters up – right into the heart of the observatory. The observatory on the Wendelstein is only an hour’s drive from Munich, when you arrive there, you get the feeling of entering another world: the world of astronomy.
