He was taken into custody this Monday morning in the premises of the Parisian judicial police to answer two charges of sexual assault. This police custody ended at the end of the afternoon but the case will not go unanswered. Gérard Depardieu, sacred monster of French cinema, will be tried in October for sexual assault, the Paris prosecutor’s office announced this Monday evening.
“He will be tried in October 2024 for sexual assaults likely to have been committed in September 2021 to the detriment of two victims,” reports the Paris prosecutor’s office. The alleged facts, denied by Gérard Depardieu, allegedly occurred on the set of the film Green Shutters by Jean Becker in 2021. The accusations come from a decorator and an assistant.
Gérard Depardieu was already indicted for rape and sexual assault on actress Charlotte Arnould. Facts which would have been committed in August 2018. In this other case, “the investigating judge closed his investigations on April 17, 2024 and transmitted the file to the Paris public prosecutor’s office to collect his requisitions on the follow-up to be considered”, specifies this Monday evening the Paris prosecutor’s office.
