Gastronomy fights for lower VAT – economy

Restaurants and coffee houses warn that many guests will stay away when the normal VAT rate of 19 percent applies again. A new survey by the industry association Dehoga confirms these fears.

19 or 7 percent can make a big difference. If you don’t believe that, you should throw the word “VAT” into a conversation between a catering representative and an economist. Then the keywords fly: “cultural assets”, “tax money”, “jobs”.
