“A masterpiece in two furious acts” – that’s how the international press commented on BVB’s entry into the final
Borussia Dortmund is in the final of the Champions League – thanks to a fighting performance against Paris. There is praise and recognition for this

After BVB’s double win against Paris St. Germain and the final, the international press celebrated the supposed underdog Borussia Dortmund and focused the Parisians’ attention primarily on the outgoing superstar Kylian Mbappé.
BVB against PSG: Black and yellow dream is alive, Paris has to wait
This is what the international press writes:
Germany
Mirror: “In 2013, Mats Hummels and Marco Reus reached the final of the Champions League at Wembley with Dortmund – history will repeat itself in 2024. Kylian Mbappé leaves Paris unfinished (…).”
Kicker: “BVB is in the final of the Champions League for the third time. It is a fantastic success for the Black and Yellows around coach Edin Terzic, who have become a unit with their fans again in recent weeks thanks to their international successes – and with this spirit too “Don’t have to hide in the final.”
Ruhr news: “BVB showed a masterful performance in two furious acts against Paris – and wrote a Cinderella story that can hardly be explained rationally.”
France
Le Parisien: “Just hopeless. PSG was eliminated in the semi-finals of the Champions League. In two games against Dortmund, Paris failed to score a goal despite its star strikers. A fiasco.”
The team: “The flame has gone out. The dream (…) was over for PSG on Tuesday. After Dortmund won the semi-final second leg with the same result as the first leg (0-1), the Parisian club will have to wait at least another year “To be able to hope to win the Champions League.”
Great Britain
The Guardian: “Hummels seals Dortmund’s entry into the Champions League final. It was an evening on which Borussia Dortmund wrote one of the most beautiful chapters in its history, on which a seemingly inconspicuous team – without any big names – achieved something completely amazing.”
The Sun: “Borussia Dortmund achieved a surprise success in the Champions League. (…) They return to Wembley Stadium on Saturday June 1st (…) after defeating Paris Saint-Germain and saying goodbye to Kylian “We ruined Mbappé in France.”

Italy
La Gazzetta dello Sport: “The Dortmund fairytale in the Champions League final. PSG hit the post twice and the crossbar twice at home.”
The Republic: “The French are stopped by the post, Hummels scores the goal worthy of the Champions League final. Terzic’s team repeated their success from the first leg at the Parc des Princes thanks to a goal from the defender in the second half.”
Switzerland
View: “Kobel writes Swiss goalie history by reaching the final. With Gregor Kobel, a Swiss goalie is in the final of the Champions League for the first time. Thanks to Mats Hummels’ goal, Dortmund also won the second leg 1-0. PSG failed four times at the goal border.”
Austria
Small newspaper: “Marcel Sabitzer fought his way to the final with Dortmund. On Tuesday, BVB celebrated a 1-0 away win against Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final second leg with Marcel Sabitzer thanks to a goal from Mats Hummels (50th) and drew with the overall score of 2 :0 into the final on June 1st at Wembley Stadium in London, where we will face either Real Madrid or FC Bayern.”
