Friedrich Merz has found a subtle form of critical opposition politics: traveling instead of talking. The sheer presence of the CDU leader in Poland, the Baltic States and weeks ago in Ukraine reveals the foreign policy deficits of the federal government. Because: Merz only has to show up in Warsaw or Vilnius, the circumstances provide the context by themselves.
