Hülkenberg’s hope of moving to the top team is “very low”

Nico Hülkenberg also wants to drive in Formula 1 in 2025. The only German driver has a clear opinion about a possible transfer to an industry leader.
“Hopefully in the next life, but I don’t think that’s where the journey will go now.” The 36-year-old Rhinelander is tied to the US racing team Haas until the end of the year – what will happen after that is not clear. An extension of the cooperation seems possible.
There will be some changes next season
There could be a chain reaction after the sensational transfer of Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes to Ferrari from 2025. Despite a valid contract with Red Bull, world champion Max Verstappen is considered a potential successor candidate for the Silver Arrows, who are looking for a new star. Further changes seem possible, as the contracts of old master Fernando Alonso at Aston Martin and Sergio Pérez at Red Bull are also expiring.
According to his own statement, Hülkenberg is not interested in that. “It’s not a distraction, I’ve been through it all many times,” said the veteran in a media round. “If that distracts you, it’s bad for you and bad for the business. You have to be able to separate life on the track and conversations about the future.”
After the successful start to the season with two top ten placements in three World Championship races, he would rather concentrate on his work in the cockpit of the midfield team. “The balls are rolling in different places and there are a few interesting weeks ahead, but I don’t feel any reason to rush,” said Hülkenberg. He doesn’t have to have a new contract for 2025 immediately, but that should happen in the coming months. “The important thing is to stay focused,” said Hülkenberg in the paddock before the next race on Sunday in Japan.
