The folding camping home fits into a box and can be transported with a pick-up. When unfolded, a cabin emerges for the wilderness. The angular carbon walls take up the design of the Cybertruck.

The Cybertruck is not yet available to buy. Even if Tesla postpones the market launch again and again, hardly any model of the company has attracted as much attention as the Cybertruck. With the other Tesla models, the technology was revolutionary, the exterior design was successful, but it remained within the framework of the conventions. The angular cybertruck has changed the look of a pickup truck more than it has done since the 1950s.

Now industrial designers and engineers from California have presented the right camping accessories for the Cybertruck. The FORM camper is just as revolutionary in its own way as the cybertruck itself.

More versatile than a motorhome

“Our California team began their journey to build FORM a few years ago when we bought a Sprinter to turn it into a motorhome,” the site says. “This process gave us an insight into the great possibilities of a motorhome. But Sprinter motorhomes generally cost well over six-figure sums. If you don’t live in your van permanently, most will end up having limited use of it. That got us into that Brought the idea to make the camper experience more flexible and pleasant. “

FORM is based on the idea of a pop-up tent – which has been around for a long time. In a trailer there is a cooking area, space for accessories and a tent. When it is set up, the tent is set up around a central table – the trailer – and when it is folded everything disappears back into the cart.

Light yet firm

FORM brings the concept into the future. The whole camping home consists of a box that fits on the “bed” – the loading area – of a pick-up. At the back it looks over the loading area and is supported by a bracket on the trailer coupling. Instead of a tent wall, the shell consists of a honeycomb material made of aluminum that is coated on the outside with carbon. In this way, good insulation is achieved with low weight. When assembled, FORM is more reminiscent of a house than a tent because of the rigid surfaces.

Area like a large caravan

The whole thing is artfully folded. Unpacked, the box transforms into a mobile home with an area of at least 18 square meters. That’s more than a large caravan has to offer in Europe. There is a living area, a flexible indoor or outdoor kitchen and a bathroom. The large two-part bed has a comfortable memory foam mattress. There are 700 liters of storage space under the bed. A heater ensures cozy warmth. A special water filter should help to treat the water and use it several times. The whole box weighs only 453 kilograms. The solar cells on the roof can generate 400 watts of electricity.

You get FORM as a complete caravan that can be packed onto the loading area. Once set up, the truck remains mobile, because the folding camper remains stable even without a vehicle.
