The start of spring is also reflected in the weather: mild temperatures are expected at the weekend. However, clouds and a few showers cloud the first weekend in March.

The meteorological beginning of spring is predominantly friendly Germany. “When it comes to the weather, the signs are also pointing to spring, at least when it comes to temperatures,” said Markus Böse from the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach on Friday. With temperatures close to 20 degrees, Sunday in particular will be spring-like.

According to the DWD, clouds will move from Eastern Bavaria to Western Pomerania on Saturday, causing a “rainy start to the day”. The rain then subsides as the day progresses. “In the other regions there are a few clouds in the sky, but every now and then they make room for the sun,” explained Böse.

It will be very mild – often with temperatures around 15 degrees, along the Neckar even 17 degrees are possible. It only stays cooler at the sea or in higher altitudes in the mountains. At night the temperatures drop to plus seven to minus one degrees.

A first sunbath on the balcony

On Sunday, the DWD expects a lot of clouds in the north and northeast as well as in the very west. There will initially still be patches of fog locally, but then it should become clear to sunny in many cases and remain dry. “The sun often shines, especially from the center to the south,” said Böse.

Spring will also have an even bigger impact on the temperatures on Sunday: According to the DWD, temperatures will climb to 15 to 18 degrees in the afternoon. “In summary, it’s the best weather for a spring walk or a first sunbath on the balcony,” says Böse.

On Monday night it cooled down to plus six to minus one degrees. There will be fog in some areas, but otherwise it will mostly stay dry.

It remains mild at the start of the new week – the sun is shining, especially in the southeast. Cloud cover will be thicker in the west and north. Things may become a little more unstable from Tuesday or Wednesday.
