At the end of February it remains mild and often dry. It could only get frosty in some parts of Germany at night.

At the end of the meteorological winter it remains in Germany mild, but cloudy with some rain – only in the southeast it could get wet more often. “Especially in the west and northwest you have the opportunity to soak up the sun for a longer period of time,” said Tanja Sauter from the German Weather Service (DWD) on Tuesday in Offenbach.

For weather experts in this country, March 1st marks the start of meteorological spring. The astronomical or calendar one, however, is only on March 20th.

According to the DWD, it will remain mostly cloudy in the south and southeast on Wednesday, with some occasional rain falling. In the southwest and in parts of the center the sun also appears longer, and “at temperatures of up to 12 degrees, nothing stands in the way of a long afternoon walk,” said Sauter. On Thursday night it will be mostly partly cloudy or clear. It cools down to between 5 and minus 3 degrees.

On Thursday it will be very cloudy from the Eifel to Schleswig-Holstein. It rains every now and then. Otherwise it will remain clear to cloudy, although the high fog will last longer in parts of Bavaria and central Germany. The temperatures climb to 10 to 16 degrees.

On Friday night, many clouds continue to gather from Rhineland-Palatinate and from Saarland to Schleswig-Holstein. It’s raining a bit. Otherwise it will be cloudy or slightly cloudy, in some areas there will be fog with minimum temperatures of 7 to 0 degrees.

According to Sauter, highs of up to 16 degrees are possible in southeastern Bavaria on Thursday and in Lusatia on Friday. “This means that the monthly and meteorological seasonal changes are very mild.”
