For Latifa Ibn Ziaten, mother of a soldier killed by Merah, this text “dishonours the institution”

Through the drama she went through and her fight with young people in disadvantaged neighborhoods, her voice became unique. Latifa Ibn Ziaten, the mother of the housekeeper Imad Ibn Ziaten, assassinated on March 11, 2012 in Toulouse by Mohamed Merah, considers the army to be her “second family”.

And in a tweet, she joins the concert of reactions provoked by the tribune published by the military in Current values. “This forum of former generals dishonours the military institution”, considers quite simply the one whose son died under the bullets of a terrorist, precisely because he was a soldier and “served and loved France”.

The platform, signed by the twenty generals but also by a hundred high-ranking officers and a thousand other soldiers, denounces the “disintegration” of the homeland through in particular “Islamism and the suburban hordes”, and under- intends a possible military intervention to put an end to this “growing chaos”. It was supported by Marine Le Pen who called on its signatories to join it. Florence Parly, the Minister of the Armed Forces deemed her “irresponsible” and announced sanctions for the active soldiers involved, held to the duty of reserve.
