Flu wave in Bavaria: Many diseases after Corona – Bavaria

The flu epidemic hit the Free State much earlier this winter. After the Corona years, general practitioners are also observing an increasing number of cases of illness, paediatricians warn of overload – not only for health reasons.

Dominik A. Ewald still sounds a bit stuffy. “It just got to me too, I’m still not completely healthy again,” says the Bavarian state association chairman of the professional association of paediatricians on the phone. Ewald struck down the influenza, making him one of many adults and especially children in Bavaria. The flu season usually doesn’t start until January, but this year it’s already in full swing. And all the other diseases, especially respiratory diseases, make things difficult for general practitioners and pediatricians – right down to the clinics, some of which no longer have any beds available for children and young people. “After two years of distance and mask, in which the infection season has largely failed, everything is now being made up for,” says Wolfgang Ritter, chairman of the Bavarian Association of General Practitioners.
