Five people die in a head-on collision on a federal highway
In a serious traffic accident on a federal road near Fritzlar, five people died on Sunday evening. Two cars collided head-on.
The accident occurred on Sunday evening around 8.30 p.m. on the B253 between the Fritzlar districts of Rothhelmshausen and Ungedanken (Schwalm-Eder). According to the police, two cars collided head-on. Five people were fatally injured.
“One car was occupied by one person, four people sat in the second car. All five people were killed in the accident,” said a police spokesman when asked. The accident occurred in a curve at the end of the upgraded route.
Possibly driven too fast
At the time of the accident, the road surface was wet. It is possible that the vehicles were not traveling at an appropriate speed. “That could be a reason for the accident,” said the police spokesman. The public prosecutor’s office called on an expert to clarify the cause of the accident.
