The trade fairs and events at which Henrik Fisker presented his electric crossover called Ocean in recent years are countless. But after many delays, it should finally be ready by the end of 2022. The ocean sets sail.

In itself, the Fisker Ocean should have been on the market for a long time; at least in the US. This year, the European launch of the supposed eco-mobile was planned in countries such as Germany, Norway and Denmark. It has been possible to reserve the Fisker Ocean for 250 US dollars for a long time and it seems that many customers from the USA and some European countries are already expecting it. Next week, Henrik Fisker will present his not-so-new Ocean-SUV once again – after the recent appearances in the USA, now at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which has so far proved to be a difficult platform for the auto industry.

Not the first time that the former Aston Martin and BMW designer has made a fresh start with his own car brand. After nothing has worked so well so far, the Ocean has a real market opportunity as an electric SUV. The 4.78 meter long crossover not only scores with its design, but also with nice details, solid technology and a diversely proclaimed ecological claim. The electric crossover starts with front-wheel drive in the USA at a low price of 37,500 US dollars for the 202 kW / 275 hp Ocean Sport, while in Germany it starts at 41,560 euros. The first 5,000 vehicles of the particularly exclusive Ocean One edition cost at least 69,000 US dollars. For this, the American offers 404 kW / 550 hp, which allows the 1.9-ton all-wheel drive vehicle to sprint from zero to 100 km/h in under four seconds. While the basic Sport model has two driving modes, the more powerful versions offer hyper and off-road modes along with torque vectoring technology for more agility.

The basic model has a range of 440 kilometers on one battery charge and is equipped with LED headlights, eco-materials on the inside, 20-inch wheels and a 17-inch operating display in the middle of the dashboard. The top model is an all-wheel drive vehicle that, thanks to CATL battery technology, can travel more than 600 kilometers on a single charge and rolls on a 22-inch wheel set with carbon rims. A solar roof is said to bring more than 3,000 additional kilometers of everyday range per year. “I couldn’t be more excited to unveil the Fisker Ocean in Spain and showcase its unique combination of performance, value and technology to the European media and potential owners,” says CEO Henrik Fisker ahead of Mobile World Congress, “Our aim is to to manufacture the most sustainable vehicle in the world and to begin deliveries in Europe later this year. Ultimately, we expect to sell 60,000 units annually in the region.” Around 80 percent of the reservations come from the USA and from the three nations of Germany, Norway and Denmark.

The Fisker Ocean is developed and produced by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria. Fisker’s headquarters are located approximately 10,000 kilometers away in Manhattan Beach, south of Los Angeles. Because company owner Henrik Fisker expects great demand from the European electronics market, a European headquarters was recently opened in Munich. In addition to the Munich brand world, there should be other Fisker centers in other European countries, from which sales should take place in addition to online trading. Fisker offers future customers a pick-up and delivery service for service work.
