Fighting spirit at the copyright conference in Berlin – Culture

It was quite a feat for the Copyright Initiative to choreograph its 11th conference on the topic at the Berlin Academy of Arts in such a way that it became a day of passions, outbursts of anger and fighting spirit. However, there is currently a major alarm. For a construct as fragile as copyright, which guarantees the freedom, identity and economic basis of culture in all its forms with a highly complex set of rules, generative artificial intelligence means emergency. These programs can produce texts, images, videos and music without human help that can now or will soon compete with the works of humans. But most importantly, these machines learn all these forms from what humans have created before. Copyright is just annoying collateral damage for the engineers in Silicon Valley.
