Federal prosecutors have filed charges against a German woman who is said to have been a member of the terrorist organization “Islamic State” and recruited other members. In addition, Romiena S. is accused, among other things, of a crime against humanity, the authority said. The State Protection Senate of the Celle Higher Regional Court is now deciding whether to open the main proceedings.

In 2014 she is said to have traveled to Syria with her four-year-old daughter and a 16-year-old girl. She took her child with her against the will of the father, the federal prosecutor said.

Daughter taken to stoning

In Syria, S. married several IS members one after the other according to Islamic rites and took care of their households. She also had two more children and raised all three in the spirit of the radical Islamic teachings of the IS.

For example, she took her then six-year-old daughter to a stoning. In addition, she exploited a Jesidin enslaved by IS in the house of a slave trader for a few days. S. is said to have clearly shown her attitude on Twitter and tweeted positively about the attacks in Nice and Würzburg.

In early 2019 she was captured in Syria and afterwards lived in Kurdish camps. In October 2021, the federal government brought her to Germany along with seven other women and 23 children. S. was arrested at the airport in Frankfurt am Main. Since then she has been in custody.
