FBI investigates university for Joe Biden documents

According to a media report, the US Federal Police FBI has carried out two raids on the University of Delaware in recent weeks in connection with President Joe Biden’s handling of secret documents. The two searches were carried out with the consent of and in cooperation with Biden’s legal team, the broadcaster CNN reported on Wednesday, citing a person familiar with the investigation. The US President’s Office declined to comment.

Biden provided the university with documents from his tenure as Delaware Senator from 1973 to 2009, the institution’s website said. “Until the archiving process is complete and the collection is made available to the public, access is permitted only with the express consent of President Biden.”

The CNN report said investigators found materials that do not appear to be classified as classified but are now being reviewed by the FBI. Neither the FBI, the Justice Department, nor the University of Delaware immediately responded to separate requests for comment from Reuters.

The background is confidential documents that were illegally found on Biden, his predecessor Donald Trump and ex-Vice President Mike Pence, which should have been handed over to the National Archives when they left office.
