Recently, more and more elephants have been living in Mozambique who have lost one of their most distinctive distinguishing features: their tusks. The explanation for this is shocking, but scientifically very interesting. Apparently poachers hunted specimens with tusks so relentlessly that it became a survival advantage for the animals not to have one.
