Everything that changes on November 1, 2023

What’s new on November 1, 2023? Well, quite a few things that will influence your daily life, directly or indirectly, and in the more or less long term. Pension amounts, gas prices, winter break, snow tires… We review most of the new features so that you don’t get lost.

Private pensions upgraded

Supplementary pensions are increased by 4.9%, as Public Service explains. This increase, which corresponds to the level of inflation estimated by INSEE for the year 2023, concerns more than 13 million people in France. It is part of the agreement recently signed between Agirc-Arrco and the social partners.

The benchmark price of gas on the rise

The Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) has published the benchmark sales price for natural gas every month since the end of regulated gas prices at the end of June. It is there for information purposes only, and allows consumers to find their way among the offers.

This famous average benchmark price is 91.04 euros/MWh for November, below the average level of the tariff shield which was in force on June 30, 2023, indicates the CRE.

Winter break comes into effect

As of November 1, an owner can no longer evict his tenant: it is the winter break, which will run until March 31, 2024. There are, however, several exceptions. This concerns rehousing linked to family needs, squatters, spouses whose expulsion has been decided by a judge, in the case of violence or divorce. More details here.

The return of compulsory winter tires

Rebelote for mountain people. For the third year in a row, people taking the road in the French mountains are required to have snow tires, chains or snow socks. The obligation runs from November 1 to March 31 and concerns 34 departments, to be found here.

New procedures for settling disputes

Two new procedures are emerging to settle disputes amicably. The goal: to speed up the judicial machine. On the one hand we count thefriendly settlement hearingthe ARA, where the judge tries to help the parties reach an agreement.

On the other hand, there is the caesura of the trial, which allows the parties to request the judgment of part of their dispute. The rest of the disagreement can be resolved via mediation or court conciliation.

A paid version on Facebook and Instagram

Meta announced it recently: European users of Facebook and Instagram will be offered a paid version in November. This, which will cost 9.99 euros per month on computer, and 12.99 euros per month via the app, will allow you to do without advertising.
