Frank Lampard has a new job. The ex-Chelsea coach and professional takes on the post of head coach at Everton FC.

Frank Lampard is the new head coach of Everton FC. The Premier League club officially announced this on Monday afternoon.

Lampard has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract until the summer of 2024. The former world-class midfielder succeeds Rafa Benitez at Everton, who was sacked in mid-January. Most recently, Duncan Ferguson looked after the team on an interim basis.

Everton: Frank Lampard on the bench for the first time in the FA Cup

Lampard will be on the Toffees’ bench for the first time next Saturday (5 February) in the FA Cup fourth round match against Brentford. “It’s a great honor for me to represent and coach a club of Everton’s heritage and size,” said the 43-year-old Englishman.

Lampard, who ended his active career in February 2017, has previously held two positions as a professional head coach. After a year at second division Derby County, he took over Chelsea in the summer of 2019, but had to resign from the Londoners in January 2021 after around a year and a half.
