EU – Bahamas again tax haven – economy

The Bahamas, Anguilla and the Turks and Caicos Islands will in future be regarded as tax havens in the EU. Finance and economy ministers on Tuesday approved a new list of jurisdictions that do not cooperate on tax matters. The British territory of the Turks and Caicos Islands is on the list for the first time, according to a statement, while the Bahamas () and Anguilla were previously listed but were temporarily withdrawn. The countries had not implemented promised reforms, it said. There is concern that because of their extremely low corporate tax rates, they are attracting profits without any actual economic activity taking place.

American Samoa, Anguilla, Bahamas, Fiji, Guam, Palau, Panama, Samoa, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, US Virgin Islands and Vanuatu are now on the EU list.
