Ethereum Dencun upgrade is now live on testnet after a 4 hour delay.

The newest upgrade of the network Ethereum in the code name “Cancun-Deneb” or “Dencun” has been live on the Goerli testnet for the first time, as reported in a Jan. 17 social media post from Ethereum developer Parithosh Jayanthi.

According to Jayanthi, some bugs were found that delayed the launch of the network by about four hours, but this issue has since been fixed through a patch. The network is back up and running again.

Once the Dencun upgrade is deployed on mainnet, it will significantly reduce transaction costs on Ethereum layer 2 such as Optimism, Base, Polygon zkEVM and others, according to the developers. It will also limit self-destruct and add new features of bridge and staking pool

According to Dencun’s test schedule, the next key moment is January 30, when it is scheduled to go live on the Sepolia testnet, followed by the Holesky testnet on February 7. The team has not yet announced a date. Where for upgrades to be performed on mainnet
