Hitting a child is violence. That’s probably clear to everyone. And what is with this? Like yelling at a child, making a derogatory comment about your teenage daughter’s body, or sending your toddler to bed without dinner because he doesn’t behave at the table the way your parents want? That is also violence, says educator Barbara Mühlenhoff from SOS Children’s Villages. And this form of assault can have just as dramatic consequences as physical violence – only they are not visible to everyone.
