Energy sobriety plan, wider Europe against Putin and PSG draw in C1

Did you miss the news this early morning? We’ve put together a recap to help you see things more clearly.

The executive wants to put an end to waste. And to achieve this objective, all sectors have been called upon, from the world of sport to administrations and industries. The government presents this Thursday its energy sobriety plan, intended to prepare for a difficult winter, without Russian gas and with many nuclear reactors stopped. The goal is to reduce the country’s energy consumption by 10% in two years. To signify the urgency, no less than nine ministers will follow one another all afternoon, exchanging with local elected officials, business representatives or even the High Council for the Climate, to present these “savings measures”, fruit of a few months work. The event, at the Parc des Expositions at Porte de Versailles in Paris, will be closed by Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne.

It is an idea launched in May by Emmanuel Macron which will materialize this Thursday, allowing the passage to Europe to send a strong signal of unity to Vladimir Poutine. In Prague, the “European Political Community” will indeed take its first steps. For the occasion, 44 leaders of the continent will meet, while the Russian president again brandishes the specter of nuclear weapons. But the future of this CPE still remains unclear. What common denominator is there indeed between declared (and impatient) candidates for membership, countries which know that the door is closed to them for a long time and the United Kingdom, which six years ago chose to leave the EU with a bang? Will the CPE be long-term or will it join the long list of dead-end projects on the continent? Doesn’t it risk, finally, becoming an antechamber in which candidates for membership wait eternally? These many questions will perhaps find the beginning of an answer this Thursday in the Czech Republic.

In the Champions League, PSG is content with a draw against Benfica

Wednesday evening, Paris had to settle for a draw (1-1). For the 3rd day of the group stage of the Champions League, PSG was well shaken by Benfica Lisbon. Paris also concedes its first points of the season in C1 after two successes in two games in Pool H. Despite a magnificent opener, after a combination of the three stars Messi-Neymar-Mbappé concluded by Argentinian “La Pulga” ( 21st), Paris bent on a cross from Enzo Fernandez deflected into his own goals by the unfortunate Danilo Pereira (42nd). PSG is still in a very good place to reach the round of 16, a stage of the competition with which it has been familiar since 2013.
