Emmanuel Macron would rule out the dissolution of the Assembly or the use of 49.3

The end of the political crisis should not involve MPs going on campaign. Emmanuel Macron would have in fact ruled out on Tuesday evening any dissolution of the Assembly and any activation of the constitutional weapon of 49.3 to have the immigration bill adopted, despite a significant setback suffered at the Palais Bourbon, indicated several participants at a dinner at the Elysée.

According to these guests, the head of state said he would rely exclusively on the joint joint committee (CMP), made up of seven deputies and seven senators, who must try to find an agreement on this text rejected outright on Monday at the Assembly.

The text hanging on the success of the CMP

The president “wants a constructive but sincere dialogue in CMP to build a compromise if possible,” summarized a participant. And if this CMP failed, the text would therefore be abandoned, without a new reading in the Assembly or the Senate, after a year and a half of reversals, negotiations and adventures.

While the date of the CMP meeting is not yet known, Emmanuel Macron would have liked it to happen “as soon as possible”, said another present at this dinner, which brought together several ministers and executives of the CMP. majority for more than three hours. Two sources say that an option was put forward for next Monday, without it being completely decided.

As for the dissolution, the president would have castigated those “around the table who imagine a dissolution, when there is not even reason to draw a general conclusion from this sequence”, declared one of the guests.
