US singer Frankie Valli and his band The Four Seasons once competed with the Beatles with hits like “Sherry” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”. Now you have a Hollywood star.

With songs like “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like A Man” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” The Four Seasons stormed the charts decades ago. Now the band around frontman Frankie Valli has received a star plaque in Hollywood. On the famous “Walk of Fame”, the singer unveiled the 2,780th star on the sidewalk in the heart of Hollywood on Friday (local time). He was welcomed with a “Happy Birthday” serenade, exactly on his 90th birthday.

In his acceptance speech, Valli recalled the beginning of his career, saying that he sang for the first time at a school event at the age of 14. “This is truly a highlight of my life,” said the musician about the award. He brought his two sons and his fourth wife, Jackie Jacobs, whom he married the previous summer, to the ceremony.

In addition to Valli, who is known for his high falsetto voice, keyboardist and singer Bob Gaudio (81) was part of the original line-up. Guitarist Tommy DeVito died in 2020 at the age of 92, singer Nick Massi died in 2000.

The musicians came together in Newark (US state of New Jersey) in 1960. The group was one of the few bands that competed with the Beatles in the USA in the early 1960s. Their eventful story was the basis for the hit musical “Jersey Boys,” which premiered on Broadway in New York in 2005. Clint Eastwood directed a film of the same name in 2014.
