He was a recognized figure in the Montalbanese medical world and, for several years, in the politics of Tarn-et-Garonne. Pierre Mardegan, emergency manager of Montauban hospital, and vice-president of the departmental council, died this Sunday at the age of 63 from a long illness.

He launched into the arena of public life in 2015, during the departmental elections, in tandem with Brigitte Barèges (LR). He then took a different direction from that of the former mayor of the City of Ingres, depending on political alliances. Two years later, he had run for the post of deputy under the banner En Marche, beaten in the second round by the outgoing socialist, Valérie Rabault.

“A big name in emergency medicine”

Last year, he launched into the municipal battle, supported by LREM and the UDI, against his former ally Brigitte Barèges. Arrived in the second round, he had withdrawn refusing “unnatural alliances”.

“He was particularly appreciated for his human qualities and his impressive capacity for work”, reacted this Sunday the senator of Tarn-et-Garonne, Pierre-Antoine Levi. For the former boss of Samu 31, Jean-Louis Ducassé, it was “a big name in emergency medicine in France”.
