Elisabeth Borne calls for a “collective burst”

A new national campaign intended to raise awareness against school bullying, and a message repeated by Élisabeth Borne, visiting this Thursday at the Parisian college Claude Debussy, with the Minister of National Education Gabriel Attal and the first lady Brigitte Macron: “Let us not minimize not what children experience.”

“We really need a collective start on this subject. We see that there are still too many adults who are not aware of the extent and impact of harassment on our young people,” underlined the Prime Minister. Adults must “listen, act, not minimize” harassment, while for young people, “it’s daring to speak,” she added. Last year, the campaign was aimed more at students with this question: “What if the other was you? “.

Social networks want to mobilize against school bullying

The head of government unveiled an interministerial plan against harassment at the end of September, promising a “general mobilization”, now with a single call number, 3018. At Debussy college, Élisabeth Borne attended the distribution to sixth grade students of a self-assessment questionnaire, put in place since the start of the school year, to “bring to light” situations of harassment, but also “to have up-to-date data”, explained Gabriel Attal.

Between 800,000 to 1 million young people are harassed each year, but the figures date from 2011. Two hours of school time will be devoted to this questionnaire between this Thursday and November 15.

She then spoke with 86 anti-harassment “ambassadors” and the educational teams of the “PHARe” system to fight against this scourge, which has become compulsory in every educational establishment. A student complains of having been poorly received by a teacher. “That’s why it’s also important to train” in harassment, replied Élisabeth Borne.

To fight against cyberharassment, the TikTok and Instagram platforms also announced Thursday that they would help their user victims or witnesses to call 3018 with a dedicated call button which will allow the listeners to be contacted directly.
